Rear differential fluid
I have read that CC electric precedents use 30W oil in the rear diff. but I was wondering if there were any particular brands of oil that are recommended? And also approximately how much is needed to refill it? Also are there any other "tips" while changing the fluid?
Thanks |

Re: Rear differential fluid
I just filled my Carryall and will be doing my precedent this coming week.
There was about 23 ounces that came out of the Carryall. I used Mobil 1 75W 90 gear oil. Make sure you loosen the top "fill" plug first...make sure it will come off. That way you don't drain it and not be able to get the fill plug out, then you are stuck with no lube in the differential! |

Re: Rear differential fluid
You can also try putting a magnet in the cover, all the magnets I ever had in the cover always had some gunk built up on them.
So I guess they do something to help you out. I used synthetic gear lube in mine and it's quieter now. The manufacturers have used 30W to thick gear lube and everything in between on the same gears, I think just about any thing will work better than old crappie oil! |

Re: Rear differential fluid
My drain plug has a magnet on it already.
75W 90 is the same viscosity as 30 SAE. I'm an old school motor head....gear oil lubes gears. |

Re: Rear differential fluid
No. Limited slip was never offered from the factory. The IntelliTrak limited slip differential carrier was offered by Club Car for a short time and it used Mobil 424 hydraulic oil. As does the Carryall 1500 and 1550 4 wheel drive utility vehicle made by Club Car.

Re: Rear differential fluid
Is there any advantage to using a synthetic gear lube in the differential?

Re: Rear differential fluid
I would say no to synthetic making a difference.
I only used it because there was a fresh bottle (probably 2 years old) on the shelf here at the house. The carts don't get nearly the miles that an automobile does and usually regular gear oil will last 50k miles in a car... |

I was wondering about that. I use AMSOIL Synthetic Marine Gear Lube 75W-90 in the lower of my Yamaha F100 outboard every 100 hours. Even better I have some already on the shelf! |
