Default 06 IQ precedent, won't move

I am working on an 06 IQ precedent serial number PQ0637-677208. It was brought to me not moving at all and the resistor getting extremely hot, it actually melted part of the heat shrink on it. I got a new resistor and put on it, but they old one ohmed out the same as the new. The solenoid would not click at all and i did other tests and suspected the controller to be bad. Through the process of unhooking stuff and plugging stuff back in i heard the controller sizzle and a small amount of the magic smoke was let out. Now the solenoid will click and after 1-4 seconds it will click again and the cart will still not move. I want to make sure it is just the controller before i send it off to get repaired. Batteries are showing 47.8 volts, motor ohmed out ok, the MCOR is at least telling the controller to click on the solenoid now.

The batteries are very weak. 47.8 is DEAD, That's probably a direct result of the short in your controller causing the resistor to get hot. Replace the controller and charge the batteries and you should be good to go.

Replaced the controller and went to hook up the cables back to the batteries and when i did there was a large spark, a lot larger than i think should be with the cart off. When i unplug the red wire that hooks to the solenoid, i believe it goes to the obc, and then hook the batteries back up there is no spark. Haven't tried to move the cart yet because the large spark makes me think i have another short

I always hook the ground up last to avoid the spark.

Was your TOW/RUN switch in the TOW position when you reconnected the batteries?

That's why you got a spark. It needs to be in TOW anytime you work on the batteries. Glad it's working.
