Default Cutting off a battery post

So, in my infinite wisdom after doing some routine cleaning of my batteries I made a boo boo.

Needless to say I melted one battery post off of two different batteries.

One battery post completely melted off. No problem. I have the needed items and plan on doing CTD's battery post repair he has shared with us.

The other battery's post didn't melt off all the way. It's just leaning but unusable due to the threads melting off. So my question is due you think using an oscillating saw with a metal blade is the best tool to use to cut this post off so I can replace/repair it? Or should I just leave it and insulate it with some type of rubber/electrical tape to avoid contact with the new post I'll be using???

Well if you are going to put a stud on the pad next to it that would be the same electrical potential so no need to insulate it.. As for cutting it off I would use a hack saw with the battery out of the cart of course and perpendicular to the other post..

It's always the simple answers that get me...A hacksaw makes perfect since.

I was afraid of making sparks with the power saw.

Thanks for the help.
