Anyone remove Idler shaft from 92 Marathon
Need to remove the steering Idler shaft from a 92 Marathon. Has anyone done this?? Looks like it needs to go out of the top, so does the body have to come off?? Thanks in advance.

Removed it last night. Removed cotter pin on bottom and shaft slid out with no problem.

Re: Anyone remove Idler shaft from 92 Marathon
Does the shaft slide out leaving the bushing behind? Did you replace the bushing? I take it that there "should" be some play in the bottom then, if the shaft slides out from the bottom?
I've been struggling with how to correct the excessive play in the idler but the play is at the bottom of the shaft. Doesn't appear (via schematic) that there is a flange at the bottom to keep things tight....your suggestion / thoughts? Thanks, Jed |
