PowerWise Charger not charging
PowerWise charger not charging....I barrowed my neighbors PW charger and cart charged just fine....so I'm somewhat certian the problem is in my charger.
Pulled the cover off the charger and found that one of the two diodes and the 50amp fuse was blown.....do I need to do other troubleshooting? (I mistakenly posted this in the club car forum last weekend....sorry Im new to this) Thanks |

Re: PowerWise Charger not charging
replace the fuse i assume you are calling diodes the little disks with 2 wires coming out of them no need to replace them no real use except to make pretty smoke when they burn up try the fuse first and see if it will fire back up if not it probably got the circut board but try the fuse first also make sure the circut breaker on the front is pushed in

i was told this by an older man that has been working on them for 20 years when i took him one of my chargers several years ago if thay burn up in my chargers i discard them. the diodes are mounted to the alunimum board on the back on the charger with 1 wire going to them

Re: PowerWise Charger not charging
Still confused....if the diode causes the fuse to blow, do you then leave the diode circuit open to isolate fuse? Questions....what purpose does the diode serve??

Re: PowerWise Charger not charging
No....there are two small circular diodes (to the right and slightly above the the fuse and attached to the same alluminum plate as the fuse, there is a single black wire attached to each diode.

Re: PowerWise Charger not charging
the two diodes are mounted on its own heat sink which is attached to the large alluminum heat sink. The diagram is similar but not the exact diagram...the fuse is a 50 amp fuse, the diagram shows a glass fuse??
