still smokin
ok so i commented a while back about getting alot of blue oil smoke from the exhaust out of my fe 290. I thought the reason for the smoke had something to do with the oil level and the tilt of the engine due to the 8" lift. since then i have checked the compresion, lowered the front of the engine pan and made sure the oil level was correct. the compression was great. still as soon as the engine warms up it starts to burn oil. anyone got any ideas for me? valve seals possibly. anyone experience this? it never did it before until i had the lift installed for about 6 mo.

Re: still smokin
the oil level was correct Is this with the dip stick or after draining and adding the correct amount?

Re: still smokin
absolutely positive about oil level. one quart and about 2 in. out of another. compression was good about 160-170. guess that just leaves the guides and seals. i was hopeing someone else maybe experienced the same thing. whats strange is that it doesn't start to burn oil until its warm. figured i would get some input before i tear it apart.

Re: still smokin
If oil level is correct, and it dosen't smoke cold but smokes when warm. You will probably find its has run warm and taken the tension out of oil rings, The other rings are tougher so the compression is still good.

Re: still smokin
Just learned this the other day, if you have been messing with the oil level, plus if your engine is not sitting quite level and if you have a low spot in your pulse line to the fuel pump, the pulse line can fill with oil in the low spot then pump it to the fuel pump.

Re: still smokin
Simple ?
Did it smoke before the 8" lift ? If no, then it has to do with engen tilt and oil level. If yes then it's time for a rebuild (probably) |
