1997 Club Car DS OBC troubleshoot
I have a 1997 Club Car DS. I can"nt get the charger to come on. I have tried the bypass procedure and resetting the OBC per instructions in this forumn with no results. I checked the voltage at the charging plug and get 37 volts ( this is a 48 volt system) and checked the fuse coming out of the plug and it looks OK. My battery pack shows 49.6 volts. Is there another way to check the OBC to see if it is bad. thanks, chuck

Re: 1997 Club Car DS OBC troubleshoot
I forgot to mention, when I did the reset of OBC my reverse warning did not sound at all, much less the 30 seconds mentioned in the instructions. chuck

Re: 1997 Club Car DS OBC troubleshoot
thats enough voltage for the charger to come on, can you try your charger on another cart? if so than try.....................if it is your cart and not the charger which more than likely it is theres a real good chance your dredded OBC crapped itself which is quite common on that year, one thing you can try is give your grey wire a pull the one on the back of the charge receptical if it pulls out thats your problem its rare but does happen otherwise as said OBC........... by the way welcome....................................

Re: 1997 Club Car DS OBC troubleshoot
37 volts is just one volt above what a OBC requires to come on,
so if the meter was off by 3% , he could have been looking at needing to charge batteries. Also because OBC's and chargers may vary slightly , I'm amazed it was the charger . Good work TOM . |
