hopefully the new drive belt was an inch shorter than stock, because that's the easiest way to gain power at takeoff as well as on hilly terrain (at a slight loss of top end speed, of course) ... There isn't a LOT to be done fuel-wise, although it's a good idea to keep your muffler cleaned out with a BBQ every couple of years (search "muffler BBQ" for the procedure) and you could always help the intake flow a bit with an aftermarket K&N style air cleaner.

As to keeping your cart running at it's peak, I found that doing the HEI mod and going with a high-output coil from an ATV dramatically improved starting and the cart definitely seems to run stronger (as well as starting is a complete breeze now, in any weather) - again, search "HEI Mod" for the procedure, the whole shebang will run you under $50 and again, dramatically improves spark strength and condition.

There are a few relatively simple clutch mods too for these older carts, but as I mentioned above, the same (or very, VERY close to it) gains can be had by shortening your drive belt by an inch

Should have seen the flames coming out of my muffler when I BBQd it. I posted pics in the sticky thread in the Yamaha forum.

Either way, BBQd muffler = running right with no smoke

well, even though I cleaned and panited mine yesterday before I put the motor in, I will build a fire on the deck tonight and roast mine...should I cut the end off prior to and weld it back on or just through it in whole???

just dump it in the fire - if you get it hot enough, you'll burn it all out
