Newbie Charging Question

Thanx for looking at my problem. I realize this probably has been gone over a few times here, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. I have a 2001 Electric Club Car, 48v. Just replaced batteries (6 new 8 volt) and placed the cart on charge. Started at ~15 AMP and now has leveled off at ~4 AMP. However, the charger is not shutting down (over night 16+ hours). From what I read, it could be an OBC problem? Thinking back, I may had problems with this on the old batteries. Not particularly thinking I had a problem with old 4 year+ batteries, it seems maybe the charger wasn't shutting down on all occasions, but I'm not real sure .... never really paid attention. Now with the new batteries, I want to be sure not to "fry" them. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

OBC controls charge time, but were there any power outages over night

Great thought, but no, no power outages. Our microwave doesn't have any sort of back-up and time was correct this morning. Appreciate the idea!

your sure it was over 16 hours? with all things working the charger should time out at 16 hours........i,ll say this and this dosn,t mean this is your problem i have seen on quite a few 1999,s to 2002,s the OBC went bad where the only problem was it wasn,t shutting charger off and frying batteries way before there time...............................

Thanx! Yeah it was probably 18+ hours. Cart runs great, just don't want to cook this set of batteries. Any ideas on how to check what's going on?

Sorry there is really nothing to check if there was no resets then the OBC is not controlling.

Do an OBC Reset if this does not help replace OR

this is a 90's unit then a new charger is about the price of OBC and you can eliminate the OBC now and forever

Thanx, I'll try a reset. If this doesn't work and I purchase a newer charger, do I bypass the OBC? I guess there are posts here about this situation. Thanx again!

you will need to ground the yellow wire from the OBC to the Master Solenoid and Install a black wire for charge Receptacle to #6 battery ( the one that's there going to the OBC may reach)

if you don't want the cart to move with the charger plugged in, I can draw up a schematic using a relay for you.

Thanx! It won't matter about the cart moving while charging. The way I have it "Car-ported", the charger plug is obvious. Thanx though! Appreciate the help .... kinda paranoid about "frying" these new batteries!
