Default spark then no spark 97 4 stroke 2 cycl.

First off great site!!! I pulled one of the 2 plugs and the spark is hit and miss it fires up when there is spark but then looses spark and quits. It's been running fine just started doing this I'm new to this set up as I had ATV's all my life. I'm getting older and thought I'd try a cart out. Thanks in advance

A 4 stroke is also referred to as 4 cycle.

Is your spark plug new? Are your connectuions firm? Could be a wire connected to the ignition coil getting loose intermittently. One of those small wires is connected directly to the ignitor. Examine the ignitor if all wires are still intact. Check also pulsar coil if the two wires are firmly connected to the ignitor.

ok, this may sound stupid but I'm gonna share what I did with the same experience.

I also had hard starting.. (long time cranking) then finally the spark on/off issue
I have alot of parts so I just started changing stuff.
I changed:
the plugs = nothing
plug wires = nothing
the coil = nothing
the igniter = nothing
the wiring = nothing
the volt regulator = nothing
the solenoid = it finally friggin' started

don't know if that was it or just from moving stuff around and cleaning everything did it.. like I said, sounds stupid but that was last year and no problems since.

when it was garage kept I had no problems. Now that it's kept under a shelter I've been having these problems could wiggle all the wires and get it going now that doesn't work. maybe some kind of dampness issue
