Default Bad Voltage Reg or Starter Generator - Scotty can you provide guidance

OK, have an issue with my '96 EZGO where battery is not taking charge. Battery is less than year old and tests fine by auto shop. It holds a charge for about 7 days of golf. I'm thinking this is a bad voltage regaltor or starter generator. How can I tell which?

Scotty, can you assist?

Thanks in advance and if you have the parts please provide a phone number.

EZ

Without going to the stickies or the manual ...
I think you can take a jumper wire from the battery ground to the green wire terminal on the generator to get full voltage output from the generator.
So in this test, check battery voltage and then install the jumper and run the engine at about 2/3 throttle, the battery should increase to about 14-16 volts.
If no increase the generator is bad.
If it increases to 14 - 16v then the regulator may be bad.

Check the green ground wire from the starter generator all the way to the voltage regulator. My cart was 1 week old and quit taking a charge, found the green ground wire was never plugged in to the voltage regulator. You may have a broken wire or bad terminal somewhere on the ground.
