how do i test the radio? and it used to work fine.. maybe i mis placed a wire in the wrong spot.....its usally charged each day or once every 2 days...yes i let the run close to out of charge....the guy i bought it from said...these batteries you dont have to fill with distilled...but when you buy new ones you will....they are from 09....i cleaned the terminals of corrosion

Those batteries are definitely bad. You ARE supposed to fill with distilled water, open up the white plastic caps on the batteries and the lead plate will likely be exposed. Filling them back up might help a little, but they are likely permanently damaged. Also, running it down to low charge shortens the battery life majorly, read the information on this site.

Is the guy who told you to do this a dealer? If so I'd ask for him to replace the parts or something.

look at this, it is generally accepted to never take the batteries below 50%

Are we changing stories here? What is the total pack voltage, and the voltage of each individual battery?

i would say i charge them 30% left on them.....but i never checked my batteries

Make sure you charge it every night and don't let the batteries go below 50% soc. The damage has already been done and is permanent, but you can still prevent future damage.
