Cool Diagnostics for '91 with controller

Need diagnostics. Non resistor, non pds, non dcs.
Cart will not start moving until I momentarily connect M- to batt-. Then works fine until I again fully release throttle. Replaced controller. Made no difference. I added a solenoid to make the temporary connection for me automatically. Works but the cart lurches at start as throttle must be slightly engaged before making the brief connection.

Cart can be also pushed by hand to get it started working. Replaced motor brushes. No difference.

I consider myself good at electronics but this one has me stumped. Any help is much appreciated. Diagnostics would be great.

Thanks much for your time.
Dan

I think you are describing a Marathon Controller cart.

The symptoms described sorta have me stumped too.

Might be why the guy was selling the 1204-009 controller on E-Bay.
Did it ever work?

The attached Marathon Controller/pot box cart diagram and 1204/5 controller manual might help.
Or at least make interesting viewing and reading while your waiting for a new controller to arrive.

Let us know what you find.....

If your motor works, controller works and soleniod is working then about the only other part that could be a problem is the pot box (throttle). Have you checked to see if it is working correctly?

Also check to make sure your FNR switch is clean and has a good contacts.
