Default 2006 EZGO Charger Clicking On/Off

I have a 2006 EZ GO 36 Volt electric golf cart with a F/R switch and control box. The charger has an LED light that flashes short green flashes when the battery is <80 percent and long green flashes when it is >80 percent. A solid green is full charge and red indicates a problem. Whenever I plug the cable in to the cart and wall, no matter the power level in the batteries, it is always a long green flash and a clicking noise that was not there before. I charged each battery individually on an autmotive battery charger and tested the charge with a Volt meter, which read 36 volts, 18 in front and 18 in back. When I plugged in the charger, it still flashed long green and clicked. The batteries are less than 2 months old. Help!

Default Re: 2006 EZGO Charger Clicking On/Off

If your battery pack voltage is only 36V, your the plates in your new batteries are sulfating as we speak.

36V is less than a 50% charge, so beg, borrow, but don't steal a good battery charger and get them charged and keep them charged. (38.2 or higher is a full charge)

Sounds like you've got a sick Powerwise QE charger, but I'd try cleaning the outside of the Negative Radsok in the Cart's charger receptacle and the Aux. contact in the Charger Plug.

Also try lifting up on the charger plug to see if charger starts act right.
Or, try your charger on different cart - Or different charger on your cart.

If the problem is in the charger, the QE is basically a throwaway unit.
There are much better and far more reliable ones available.

Here is a State of Charge chart, so you can tell how well your batteries are charged.
