Is a yamaha g2 worth lifting?
I am new to this and like it a lot! Great information on here! My question is though, I went to my local golf cart shop asking about a lift kit for my g2 cart and the guy told me there that I was wasting my time cus yamahas are not good with lift kits and it will wreak bearings and cause more problems, and that an ezgo won't have them problems and is the cart to get. I'm not an expert when it comes to carts but I didn't think it mattered that much on the brand of cart, and thought that I would be fine lifting my g2.So I was wondering will I and what problems if any will I have lifting my cart. Thanks!

Re: Is a yamaha g2 worth lifting?
As a Yamaha dealer I can say I lift at least 3 Yamahas a week... Having said that the G2 in particular is not known as a powerhouse when lifted...meaning you get some good top end out of them but they def are not known as torque monsters...However it sounds more to me like this guy has an ez-go he wants to offload as every cart I know of has been lifted and do fine...

Re: Is a yamaha g2 worth lifting?
I have both a G2 and a G9 lifted -- and have had no problems with bearings so far. I don't believe a Yamaha is any more prone to that sort of problem than any other cart --- at least I haven't noticed that after being on this forum for 3 years and reading nearly every post concerning G2s and G9s over that period.
LOTS of lifted G2s (and the VERY similar G9s) on this forum - and if you are disappointed with the torque you get from the cart just install a new spring in the clutch. Simple fix. |

Re: Is a yamaha g2 worth lifting?
I have a G8, very similar running gear. I have driven mine well over 4000 mi. lifted! Never been touched with a wrench for a problem, since I built it 3 1/2 years ago!!
You will need the torque spring tho. |
