Need advice asap: price for my G2 motor
I am meeting with local cart shop owner tomorrow to sell my yamaha g2 motor. It is still in running condition, just smokes a little but has compression of 150lbs. My question...Is his offer of $150.00 plus some new brake pads a decent offer or should the motor be worth more?

That's what I was thinking. But I do need some misc. parts in addition to brakes.

The ramps on my secondary clutch helix are getting pretty worn...one or more of my stock motor mounts are getting sloppy. Maybe a top from a newer yamaha that has handles? I'm usually good at the "wheel and deal" but I've yet to find a ballpark number on what a stock yamaha motor will fetch.

If the brakes aren't "Genuine Yamaha" you won't be happy with them.

Re: Need advice asap: price for my G2 motor
I have two of them that way, they run fine all original but smoke some. I plan to rebuild them then sell, but really would like a cart to toss them in and test before I sell them lol. The cheapest I ever found a rebuilt was 600, and that was bored. Can get ringed cheaper but ones I ran were still lacking IMO. I don't know if mine need bored not checked them yet they are in storage. Last I saw a good running used engine was worth minimum 300 or more, not smoking, and not just rebuilt. But hope more comment on current value because I don't really know either.
With a yami smoking is usually a sure sign the rings are going. You also want to MAKE SURE it has oil in it when you run one you might buy. Heard more than a couple stories of people buying a used engine/cart and finding no oil in it so it would not smoke when they test drove it. Likely had a little oil in them just low enough to stop smoking. |

Still have the motor. Didn't want to mess with haggling since by the way he was talking it seemed like he knew he would be getting a steal with his offer if I went thru with it. For what I've seen other cart engines going for from other manufacturers not just yamaha, I'd say $300 is a fair price.
