Re: Ezgo medalist dcs won't go
i pulled the factory controller and it seems to pass the smell and shake test even with the warped plastic. I will not put this controller back in but for giggles is there a way to run an ohmic test on this to know if it is bad for sure?

Re: Ezgo medalist dcs won't go
The attached is a diode check for a DCX controller, but a sepex controller is a sepex controller, so the polarities will be the same.

Re: Ezgo medalist dcs won't go
well it would appear that i fried my motor and controller! Thats impressive!LOL. I dropped off my motor at repair shop. At a brief look the guy said the flaking that i described was possibly a burnt up brush but will let me know for sure in the next couple days. once again thanks for the help. I will keep you guys posted.

Re: Ezgo medalist dcs won't go
I heard back from the motor repair shop my motor need new brushes, bearing and armature work. They quoted me $400 to repair. Time to look for a new motor! Scottyb do you have a package that includes speed controller, solenoid and new motor for under $500 LOL? But seriously what motor do i want to put back in this? originally i wanted to put the dcx400 controller in if my stock motor was good. I can't stop thinking about getting 20mph out of my buggie! I do have a rear seat on my buggie and want to make sure i build it right while staying in budget. Lay some knowledge on me.

If your motor can be rebuilt by PQ, you might stay under $1,000, but when you get to 20MPH and above, you have to start thinking about you are going to stop the cart. Unless your rims are 10" or greater, 4-wheel disk brakes aren't an option, so the regen braking comes in handy, but PQ doesn't recommend using it with their motor rebuilds. The D&D motors are built to withstand the additional heat load and stresses of regen braking and they have a wide variety from High-Torque to High-Speed that fits your cart. The controller/solenoid/ motor combination I'm using will give you about 24 MPH on stock height (18") tires at 36V, but it ain't cheap. |
