DO you have a test meter? Put the test leads on the 2 battery posts that connect to the cart. What's the voltage read?

one fairly easy way to tell.....are the 4 motor posts all the same size? or are the 2 closest to the tranny smaller?

if the 2 closest to the tranny are smaller.....you got the wrong type of motor plugged into your cart.

if all 4 are the same size....you will need to get the info off of the motor name plate.....

OR are the 4 posts labeled at all? of so.....if its a series motor they will be labeled A1, A2, S1, and S2. if its a sepex motor they will be labeled A1, A2, F1, and F2

Use this chart to determine the drive system type.

The studs of some of the DCS motors were labeled S1&S2 and A1&A2 and all four studs were the same size.

You'll have to find a label on the motor or pull it and look at the field windings ( you can see the difference in the chart Scotty posted).

You also might be able to tell using an Ohmmeter. The Armature and Stator windings of a series motor will be about the same, while the Field windings of a Sepex motor will have considerable more resistance then the Armature. (IE: My sepex motor is about 1.0Ω for the armature and about 3.0Ω for the field.)
