Jerking, stopping, smoking motor
Drove cart 5 minutes and noticed it was kinda jerking like brakes were grabbing. Then the cart stopped. Let it sit overnight and tried to move it but it only moved an inch and I noticed smoke from motor.
Batteries are pretty new. Solenoid has been replaced with only like 30 minutes on it. Solenoid is clicking. Not sure if the solenoid was hooked up right but I attached pics to show how it is connected. Could it be wrong or what could my issue be? |

Re: Jerking, stopping, smoking motor
If it was running then it stopped running. Things didn't get hooked up wrong while you were driving. Your brushes are burned up in your motor. I just had the same thing happen. It never completely stopped but started jerking at times. I replaced my bandit with a amd 5.5 hp with my 350 amp controller it rocks.
If you upgrade motor go ahead and get a 500 amp controller |

Motor problem. Smoking motor, you let the smoke get out of it. You have to get one with the smoke still in it to work correctly.

Don't burn it up any more and it could be rebuilt. Unless you want to upgrade

Re: Jerking, stopping, smoking motor
I finally got around to looking at this. I see at least one brush is melted. Also the internal part (not sure what it is called) has damage.
Any hope or is it trash? |

Re: Jerking, stopping, smoking motor
Looks like the commutator has a big ol chunk taken out of it. Had you stopped a little sooner, would have been an easy fix.

In the third picture, you can see the Bandit motor casing with PQ's signature handle.
