Deionized Water on the batteries

I have 1997 Club Car DS and need help of how to add water in the batteries.

Is the water I am using is deionized water? and do I have to fill up to the top of each batteries?

Distilled water is all that is needed, Deionized water will work, but cost a lot more. The water needs to be between a 1/4" and 1/2" over the battery plates. depending on battery manufacturer. Do not overfill or they can overflow when charging. Typically 1/8" of an inch below the bottom of the vent well.

I keep mine about 1/2" below the fill tube bottom (which is probably ~1/3" or so above the plates). Any higher and I get excess accumulation of acid vapor on the battery tops. As long as I keep it is this range, they stay clean and dry. I check mine monthly... (and I use DI water because I have it available for free)
