Default Club Car 48v Solenoid, diode and resistor question

I have a new solenoid and diode and resistor to install. These are aftermarket parts. First question is the direction of the resistor and diode. I don't see any markings on them to identify a direction to be installed. Second, the solenoid has an "I" and an "S" marking by the small terminals. Is one of them specifically Positive? Thanks for the help!

The I terminal should be the + from some source like key switch.
The solenoid is activated by grounding(to B-) the S terminal by the controller.
The diode would be placed across the I and S with the band on the diode on the S terminal.
The resistor goes across the large terminals and direction doesn't matter.
These I and S are from automotive solenoids.
Golf cart units usually have a + and - on them.

So an off question. If the controller was bad wouldnthe solenoid still click?

The band on the diode goes to the same post as the positive wire.

I'm a little confused. The other response says the band goes on the S terminal which was described as the neg terminal. Thanks for the help!

The diode is polarity sensitive. The banded end ALWAYS goes towards the post with the positive wire on it. The other small post will have the negative wire on it.

Yep my error on the diode and I knew better.
Sorry Kramlinck for the confusion.
The experts are always watching to make sure you get the correct information.
Dang those I and S terminals.

No problem at all! Thanks for the help. I got the new solenoid, food, resistor and micro switch down by the pedal put in. I finally have progress with the solenoid clicking now. I'm guessing the controller is bad. There is no voltage stored in the controller and no voltage between B+ and M- which the club car test manual goes through. It states that means bad controller. I'll replace that tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks again to everyone!
