Those Lester timers (or any other timer) were designed to work with Ferro-Resonant chargers that automatically reduce the charger current as the Voltage increases (transformer core saturation).

While the PowerdriveX, which is a power supply and not a charger, current will reduce somewhat as the battery voltage increases (due to the reduced voltage difference), it will not be the same as the "top" or "finishing" charge the OBC can provide by regulating the charging current using the internal SCR.

As You probably already know, the best long term solution is to replace the entire charging system (Powedrive2 and OBC) with a smart charger.

This might be a redundant or a dumb question. What is the difference between the old style OBC and the new style OBC the one with the female blade connector coming out of the center of the obc.

There are multiple versions of the OBC and they are not compatible with each other: Old Regen, Series and Sepex have different versions of the OBC.

Even with the Precedent Sepex system there have been different algorithm changes as the batteries changed from 12v to 8v.

As far as the replacement chargers, I agree with NoleFan4Ever.
