Problem with 2008 Precedent IQ..Thanks in Advance.

I have a problem need some help diagnosing. I upgraded my motor a few years back and it doesn't have the motor breaking feature and allows to free wheel. The other day going down hill on a pretty good stretch I let her fly. Well started hearing a scraping like sound so backed off. Ever since then I've got surging or no power and what feels like maximum engine breaking. The breaking sometimes makes me think it's a break issue.

Sometimes it'll take off with power and then cut out, let off the pedal and push it down again and power returns. Sometimes I've got no power and creep along with the pedal pushed all the way down, that makes me think it's a motor, mcor or controller issue. I thought I probably smoked the motor let it wind up to much but the intermittent power has me confused. At times it runs like it used to but most of the time I get the surge.

Any thoughts on what be going on?

Sounds like you really over RPM'd the motor. There is probably bearing and/or winding assemblies that are damaged and you are losing contact with the motor brushes.

You can pull the motor and open it up and inspect it.

Thanks that's kind of what I thought just wasn't sure the motor could create the different issues.
