Default Disappointing test run. Did not go far

Today I took my cart on its maiden voyage after installing the 6 inch lift and 22 inch tires.
I drove around the dried up lake bed.
It is mostly hard packed dirt with some rocky areas thrown in to break up the monotony.
It is also overgrown with tall vegetation.

As you can see in the pic I used an app on my phone to record my adventure.
Notice it shows speed, time moving and so forth.
Long story short after two miles the cart petered out. About a 500ft from home. I let it rest a few moments and slowly drove it a few yards and it died again. Did this three times.

Checked the voltage after about ten minutes. All batteries at 6.4 volts.
Checked again a little over an hour and still the same voltage.
I did notice that the controller heat sink was pretty hot.

What gives?

P.S.
On Friday, with the stock wheels and tires, me(175lbs), my granddaughter(55lbs) and son(170lbs) went on the same excursion and the cart died in almost the same place.

P.S.S.
Cart had been charged all night long before I began my trip.

Your controller is toast. Same thing happened to me about a month ago and upgraded to an Alltrax SPM 48500. Your lift kit and larger wheels and tires changed the gear ratio (bigger gear) which put more stress on your controller.

Scotty B at Carts Unlimited is your solution.

6.4v X 6 = 38.4 = full charge Assuming you are not getting a huge voltage drop under load and noting the controller got quite hot, cart stopped. Wait cart goes a little & stopp. wait, cart goes a little ..... this sounds like controller thermal shut down. When it cools it goes, then it heats back up and stops again. You need to upgrade the drive system in this cart to match the work load it is seeing.

Ok Scottyb.
I am not interested so much in speed as I am in torque.
I have looked at your site but I am bit overwhelmed.
What do you suggest?

I am going to assume it is safe to run the cart. Most of the time my son and granddaughter will be using it. They tend to stop and smell the roses rather than drive non-stop like I did.

Most the guys are using pkg 808 in the Ezgo PDS. You get a 30% increase in torque and 24mph on the flats.

Replacing the faulty stock controller with a DCX400 (or larger) controller will increase both speed and torque, however running 22" tires reduces torque by about 18% where the rubber meets the road while increasing speed up to about 18%, so the net gain in torque is only about 10%.

It was probably safer for them to operate before modifying it.
