JohnnieB says much faster and the motor will probably grenade and also take the controller. I very seldom take it above 27mph now
look below and you'll see what all I'm running

If you toggle the reverse micro switch can you still use the forward and reverse switch or would you have to leave it in the neutral position?

Just trying to get this straight to prevent injuries to people and equipment.

Last time I checked, if you put pack voltage on Pin-4 of a DCX controller, the cart goes in reverse.

What Scotty says is true for series controllers, but not sepex controllers.

Was wondering about that JB. Was just about to break out the schematic for the DCX but you already answered it.. I wish they did have a half speed option that was easily switchable.. Would be another selling point.

I did break out the schematic.

Since the throttle signal to the controller from an EZGO ITS sensor is the amount of current flow, it might be possible to add a fixed resistor in series or parallel to the sensor and switch it in and out of the circuit to limit the throttle signal to about half the value.

Basically, do something like EZGO did with the pot-box for 1/2 speed reverse in the controller Marathons.

If you can figure out the values and how to put it in the circuit (series or parallel), you can use a separate keyswitch so you have to have the key to run WOT.

That's over my head, I think I'll try to design a mechanical device for the pedal. Thanks for the help.

Jb, is it voltage or amperage? If voltage, what about a Zener to cap the voltage?

The EZGO ITS sensor actually varies the current flow through the input bridge, but we can measure a difference in voltage at the controller.

The throttle system has three parts:
1. Power source (in the controller)
2. Throttle pedal position sensor (in the pedal box)
3. Throttle signal processor (in the controller - Translates the received throttle signal into whatever the controller uses to adjust the duty cycle of the PWM output)

In some applications, a Zener might work, but finding one with low enough voltage might be difficult.

You don't want to mess with the power to the ITS sensor, or it might not work right, so the Zener would have to be in the wire between the sensor output and the controller's throttle input. For series and DCS carts, that is from 0.5V to 1.6V, while the voltage range is 1.0V to 2.9V for PDS carts and the voltage range is again different for Alltrax controllers.

FWIW: A forward biased silicon diode drops ~0.6V and I've stacked them in series for low voltage Zener applications. Two in series would be about 1.2V, or about half speed for series/DCS while three would be about 1.8V or about half speed for PDS.

However, since the ITS sensor is a current operated device, I'd probably just use a resistor in series with the output.
