2010 EZGO RXV torque issue
Hello, I recently bought a 2010 EZGO RXV with the intent of using it for hunting. The cart runs great on flat or slightly hilly land, but when I try to go up a slightly steep hill side, which I think a golf cart should be able to handle, the cart loses torque and stalls out if I have a passenger on the cart with me. Any ideas what would cause this? Is there an upgrade that I can do on the RXV to increase torque?
Thanks, any input would be appreciated |

Nothing other than running closer to stock size tires. No motor/controller upgrades for rxv yet. Must be pretty steep, because i have run a rxv with 22" tires in deep soupy wash sand with no problems.

Re: 2010 EZGO RXV torque issue
2 causes for RXV stall.
1) bad batteries/connections-- power issue. 2) tires too large. what batteries are you using? how old? what tires are you using? i recommend tires no larger than what would fit under an UN-LIFTED cart. RXV,s will climb steep hills with no problems with "normal" size tires. Have seen issues with large tires, acceleration "Stalls" / braking problems. although these seem like different problems, it is actually the same problem. if you want to use large tires on an rxv, maybe you can find a lower gear ratio.. Any torque gears available for RXV,s? |

The 16.99 (stock) ring gear fills the housing so full, i doubt much higher ratio would physically fit in the axle.

Re: 2010 EZGO RXV torque issue
Thanks for the responses. The cart has 20" trail wolf tires on it, cart hasn't been raised.
The batteries are Trojan T-1275 Plus 12V Deep Cycle batteries and are original to the cart so they are about 4 yrs old. All four are reading between 12.3 and 12.4 volts. I'll have to stop and pick up a hydrometer and see if one or more of the batteries might be bad. Not liking how it is stalling out on me on the hill. Thanks again for your input. |

Re: 2010 EZGO RXV torque issue
You may just have bad batts. 4 years is pushing the limit on 12v golf batts.

Looks like it is the batteries. Just stopped and bought a hydrometer, all four of the batteries had at least one bad cell....Here goes more money

Re: 2010 EZGO RXV torque issue
Tire size sounds reasonable..
We use that size tires without issues. Sounds like battery voltage drops under stress. If this is problem,Emergency/parking brake should engage to keep cart from rolling back. Does brake engage when cart stalls? do you need to turn key off then on to get cart moving again? Hope batteries take care of problem.. Please let us know if batteries help. Good luck.. |
