Default Motor / Axle movement

Had the motor cover off doing the 48v conversion and noticed last night that when you take off fast the entire motor axle assembly seems to rotate some - if you just floor it, rotates about 1.5" or so. Pops back to center as soon as the torque is off.

Normal?

The whole differential is rotating. It is fastened to the leaf springs. Check the u bolt and spring purchase connections. And stop romping on it like a 13 yr old .....
Is that how you drive your truck?

Electric motors deliver 100% of their hp at 0prm ~ so the start is tremendously strong & the faster it goes the less torque it has.... don't break something.

Yes. The more weight vs torque will try to twist the leaf springs till it creates a rolling mass. That amount will vary. The HD springs shouldn't be as bad as the stock springs.

Edit: Scotty beat me to it.

I drive my truck like... well like a .... crap. yeah, I see you;re point.

It's just so much fun to stomp on it now that I have it at 48V

Leaf springs are almost shot so I guess that is where my rotation is coming from - is this a correct assumption? Bolts and everything else seemed goof when I checked them a few weeks ago.

Yea, foot to the floor, lots of black smoke and most cars in my rear view mirror But I am trying to control myself.
However, that is not what I am building my cart for!

My truck is a F-150 Crew cab XLT, Edge Evolution tuner, Airraid cold air kit and filter, catback exhaust.

After I blew the output shaft bearing seal pretty much off the transmission, I try to keep my foot off the floor now

...and put the speed limiter back on through the tuner.

F250 is much tougher and my transmission has been build HD. Though I must admit I have almost grown out of showing off and drive the speed limit most of the time just to see how much better economy I can get.

The big difference here is that the electric motor starts off the line with 100% of its potential torque unlike the gas motors who torque rises with rpm. ( to a point) have fun but don't break sumthin!

Scotty is right on! My truck is mostly built for it but will last a lot longer with a soft foot!

I mainly drive the speed limit now too - or at least just stay with traffic. Repairs cost too much!
