New motor installed and 28 MPH
Well the new motor is in. I took it out on the road and hit 28 MPH on sort of level road (no such thing here). Coming back I hit 31 but that was too fast without getting the steering tuned in. I sure draws a lot of amps, easy to hit 200 - 250 Amps.

Re: New motor installed and 28 MPH
that rocks, when you hit speeds over 25 was the steering shaking?? my steering shakes pretty bad and the front end is aligned and tight.

Re: New motor installed and 28 MPH
Of course that much speed needs better brakes and new tires. The 10" rims tapered in to soon so I had to add 1" spacers but that makes it more stable.

Re: New motor installed and 28 MPH
I put new tie rods, idler arm and steering gear kit. Also new king pin & bushings. It is not really shaking however it is very touchy and a little scarey. I have the front end toed in 1/4" but I was talking to the manufacture of the brakes and he says I may want to toe out a little.

Re: New motor installed and 28 MPH
I could have gone with a faster motor but talking with Robby we decided that the hilly area here could over heat the motor. So I went with a target of 28 MPH instead of my original 35 MPH. It will still go that fast on a down grade.

Re: New motor installed and 28 MPH
That's what I was thinking also. Not sure of what the proper toe in is. I have mine set on 1/4" right now and it drives really good. I'm thinking that I might reduce that to 1/8" and see what happens but I can't imagine that it should be toed out at all????
