Default My terminal is getting way to hot when charging

I arived at the drag races today and my txt would not back out of the tailer. I lifted the seat and one of the terminals had completely melted. Not sure why. Went and got a new battery and when putting it in I let my son do it and he put it in backwards. I switced it back charged it for a few hours and it ran like a champ for 2 hours. Put it back on the charger and now one of the terminals is getting so hot while charging you cant even touch it. What is going on?

possibly a bad wire? I have seen a faulty wire cause problems many times. Check the voltage on the battery that is getting hot terminaled, then check what the voltage reads at the other end of that wire, if the voltage drop is signifigant, you likely have a bad wire (high resistance causes increased heat)

Heat is generated by electrical resistance, resistance is caused by a failure to move amps from point A to B unrestricted.
Electrical restrictions come in the form of wire gage being to small, loose cable ends or connections, corrosion in the cable, cable ends or connections.
Or if poorly maintained, some or all of the above.
Check and or clean all of the above and your issue should go way.
