Re: 1976 resistor cart
It is a audible warning device (beeper) to let you (and anyone near cart) know you are about to back up.
In later carts it stays on as long as F/R switch is in reverse, but from what I can gather from tracing out the lines on the schematic, this one stops beeping when pedal is pushed. It is a safety feature, so it should be operable for liability reasons, but some guys disable them on hunting buggies. |

I don't know the first thing about resistor buggies, but shouldn't there be some sort of enclosure to protect the resistors, or is that how they usually are? Just looks kinda exposed. |

Re: 1976 resistor cart

When the pedal is all the way down, fully battery voltage is applied to just the motor. When pedal is less than all the way down, one or more resistor coils are in the series circuit and some of the available energy is converted to heat by the resistor(s) instead of mechanical motion by the motor. Resistor carts drain battery at about same rate regardless of throttle setting (speed). |

The help I got from you guys on the forum ie schematics and instructions is what made it doable. THANKS ! Rick |
