Let's talk brakes.

I'm getting ready to go to the garage and work on the cart. One thing I want to look at is the brakes. I'm having to stand on them pretty hard to stop. No bueno!

So I figured I can check the pads and clean everything out. Possibly adjust them a bit. Anything I should look for or suggestions? And is there already a Club Car thread or sticky with brake maintenance, repair and or replacement?

note this is for my 93 cart but its the same as 99

Is there a trick to getting the brake drums off. I could have sworn when the swapped my tires they just fell off. Could it be because they're warm?

I changed the fluids and ran it around. Drained the fluids and replaced it. So now I'm moving to the brakes so they're warm.

Also make sure the parking brake is off.... I've done it before

That's what it was.

After I replied to crash I realized what it was. I cleaned them and I adjusted the play in the pedal. I need to see how to adjust them because the driver side brakes harder than the passenger side.

Me Too! I'd like some brake info, i.e., how to adjust the parking brake. I can push my cart with one finger with the parking brake on

ok... On older Club Cars (cc) there is a square post on the top of the brake assembly, just above the spring. Loosen the part until the brake cables are LOOSE. To adjust, put the hub on, parking brake off. Install all lug nuts with the wheel off. Turn clock wise, until the hub can not be turned by hand. LOOSEN the square bolt 1 turn. Brakes should turn freely. Mount tires and adjust parking brake clevis unit (under the cart) until the parking brake locks with about 45 lbs pressure, or until the slack is out of the brake cables. ps... one of the 4 way wrenches used to turn on water faucets that do not have a handle works great. No wrench seems to fit except a crescent.
