Default Anyone Interested In a LCD State of Charge Meter?

So I wanted to add a state of charge meter to my cart but had heard bad things about the cheap ones and I refuse to pay that much for a curtis bar graph so I decided to make my own! I've got the software pretty much done, I just need to tweak my circuit for a little more dynamic range & find or fab a suitable weatherproof enclosure.

Display is a 16x2 transflective backlit character LCD. Easy to quickly read even in direct sunlight. State of charge is broken down & mapped out to a 16 segment bargraph and is also displayed as percentage; 100% = fully charged, 0% = fully depleted. Total pack voltage is displayed to one decimal place. All high and low values come directly from Trojan's published state of charge charts. No more self calibrate guessing games!

Basically, I was wondering if anyone besides myself would be interested in such a display if the price were right? If I were to guess, end price would likely be more than a curtis, but less than $100. Installation will be almost identical aside from the physical size. Let me know what you guys think! Cheers!

If it's not weathertight, I won't look at it.

1. Please contact the administration before you start selling manufactured or business items .
2. The same $ buys a water tight 2 wire hookup DIGITAL LED in dash meter.

I agree with Scotty.....

It does look interesting, I would be interested in seeing the final product, if it is waterproof.

It would be sealed. Likely gasket'd, not potted (if possible).

1. Of course, I'm just wondering if its worth the effort to further develop. I don't have a job at the moment and if there is a interest worth pursuing, it'll give me something to do.

2. Not sure what you mean here.... but a simple 7 seg LED washes out in direct sunlight, doesn't give percentage &/or bar graph, doesn't have the same bling factor!

It needs to be shown hooked up and working directly in the path of a garden hose. THAT, I understand.

"waterproof" is a big word! to make something like this "waterproof" would likely require potting. this eliminates almost all possibilities of repair outside of warranty, firmware updates or hardware upgrades. "water resistant" is what i would like to shoot for. ie: don't spray it directly with a 3800psi pressure washer. low pressure water hose or rain water would be fine.

i'll take some photos once i have it installed!

Um.... do more research on potted daylight readable LED 2 wire panel meters for DC...they are accurate. They are out there and I am using them in my carts and others.
