Re: Switching PDS drive modes
What is this?
This some kind of electrical panel to keep it from back feeding...I don't understand why you need all this. I have a wiring harness already made that has been operating now since 04 on mine with just wire and switches. You move the toe switch to the dash along with the chip switches and flip them to whatever mod you want. |

The item you're looking at is a solid state relay of my own design. Why is needed? It's not needed if you want to run 4 wires to the dash and use just rocker switches as simple switches. Heck, why do we need speed controllers? Why not just get some welding cable and a couple alligator clips and connect them to the motor when we want to gO..... Why bother with those pesky electronic controllers anyways? If you want to use 12 volt automotive rockers with LED's then you need to isolate the "switching" from the "switching device"...... If you want to disregard the LED's in the switch then you can run two additional wires and just use the rockers as plain, ordinary switches. Your method uses a harness with a minimum of 8 wires, probably a cople of Molex connectors, involves moving the Run/Tow from the controller cover to the dash. Mine uses no additional connectors, only four wires running back to the controller and three simple switches. The SS Relay is about $10....... Oh, did I mention "Bling"...... Re: Switching PDS drive modes
Now boyz.
How do you select modes with this thing? I guess I'm looking at the back side? |

With ignition on, or off, it doesn't matter. Set the two rockers and hit the "Initiate" button. You're done...... example- both rockers ON is "Freedom" ....Both OFF is "All Terrain". I forget the combination of the other two On/Off's but they would correspond to "Steep" or "Mild Hill". |

Re: Switching PDS drive modes
Yes....I don't add any connectors. My interface is 4 wires from cowl to controller. I wired the SS Relay to the "Freedom" plug and added a ground wire inside the Controller enclosure to B(-)........
This interface will work for either 36V/48V. You don't need an AUX 12V supply. The relay, and the Rockers can be used at these voltages by using a different resistor value(s). Last edited by todo_brane_ded; 04-01-2011 at 10:10 PM.. Reason: just thought of something else.... |

Re: Switching PDS drive modes
So........? Where are you going to mount the rockers? And the relays?

Look at the pix's. One photo shows the green board wired to the Freedom Plug (red wires) and the oter side you'll see two control wires, a black and red (not shown in all the photos). Those two wires go to the dash. The only other wires are the "Initiate" switch interface (two wires) that interrupts the Yellow wire on the Run/Tow switch via a dash mounted Normally Closed Momentary Push Button switch. |

Re: Switching PDS drive modes
OK,
he wanted it electrical. Looks nice. I just did mine with mechanical switches since I'm more mechanical than electric. Good deal. |
