Cart can't last 18 holes, why?
Have a 99 ezgo cart. Last 2 times i've played golf, its died on me on the course after 16-17 holes. Some background. THese were my first 2 rounds this year, and i live in a cold weather city, so maybe this has something to do with it. Both times, cart was fully charged night before.
Bought the cart last year, and was told the batteries were less than 2 years old. I'm no expert, but they do look pretty new, so i'm a little skeptical that it's the batteries, but i'm a newb, so i dont know what else it could be. Help please! |

You're gonna need to purchase and learn to use a digital multimeter. Test each battery voltage and report the findings here. A fully charged 6v battery should read 6.37v or higher, 12 hours after the charger has finished it's cycle.
Also, what brand and model batteries are in the cart? |

bigtimegolf777, you stated that you are new to the cart game.....
#1. did you keep the cart charged all winter long? #2. have you checked the water level in the batteries? ONLY use Distilled Water. #3. just a reminder, you need to charge the cart EVERY time after you use it, and keep the batteries charged at all times. If you are not using it, you need to re-initiate the charge cycle once in a while to top off the charge. |

There's that darn 4 letter word again. GOLF gone off looking for flowers?
Looks like you batteries need some TLC or replacement. As others have said, check the total pack voltage and the voltage of each battery AFTER you make sure the cells are full ( if not top them off with distilled water) AND a full charge. After a full charge, let the batteries settle for 12 hours or so and let us know the whole pack voltage and the individual battery voltage. |

well since you allowed them to discharge that low, or totally.....its a good chance that are TOAST. in the future, always keep them charged, regardless of how long it may be between uses.

Your batteries are toast.
I knew my batteries were done last fall with a couple of miles driving range on a full charge. I left the cart plugged into the charger as winter set in and the charger would kick in every day even when the cart was not used. I finally gave up figuring why pay to charge batteries that are garbage. As winter set in, the battery meter finally went blank. Now it is spring, the battery meter came back to life. Put the cart back on the charger after a little individual charge help. Can go maybe a mile before it is juiceless after a full charge. Gonna get new batteries! I was surprised to see the batteries register any voltage after I let them die this past winter. |

Re: Cart can't last 18 holes, why?
Digital Multimeter came today so i plan on checking the batteries in the morning and will come back with results. I can't seem to find answer on which setting to set the meter to. The volt options are 20 and 2.
My cart has 6 6V batteries FWIW. I saw someone say set it to 20 for 8V batteries, do i do the same for 6V batteries? |
