1994 EZ Go Electric Marathon motor bushining
Have had my 1994 EZ Go Marathon electric cart with Spicer transaxle for year and a half and after moving cart one day it made which I though was a bad transaxle and would not move. After removing 36 volt electric motor (don't know what kind since printing on plate worn off) It slid off spline from transaxle real easy and at that point could see coupling on motor was severely worn, as well as spline going into top of transaxle. The coupling that is part of motor is attached to armature in motor. Is it actually part of armature, or is it pressed on or does it screw in. Also the spline (which I think is part of the Input Shaft Kit) has a snap ring, which I got out. To pull the shaft out is there a special puller to us. I am new to this so bear with me.

Re: 1994 EZ Go Electric Marathon motor bushining
After the snap ring is removed, the input gear assembly just pulls out of the differential.
Once the bearing on the far side unseats, you have to wiggle it a bit to get it out. I wrapped a piece of leather around the splines to protect them, clamped onto them with vise-grips and tapped gently with small hammer to unseat bearings. Service manual attached. IIRC, the coupler on the motor shaft is press-fit while hot. Getting it off will be tricky since the wires in the armature windings are exposed and easy to damage with a heat-gun or torch. Some guys have done it, but I can't remember their names or the threads. |
