MY Melex 212 Before and After
Wow! Looks great! How long did it take you to complete your project? I am currently in the process of converting my MELEX 212 hand me down from electric to gas. I was tired of not holding the charge on the batteries and only able to ride for 5-10min on flat ground. I felt it was more beneficial to fork out the money for a gas conversion. Here is a description of what ive done so far.
1. Removed old axle and electric engine. 2. Installed 1" flex proof solid state axle with 4inch EZ go lift kit and pillow blocks. 3. Installed make shift torsion bars to prevent axle wrap. 4. Installed front suspension CLUB CAR 6inch Jakes lift. (Still working on getting tie rod right for appropriate turn radius.) 5. Installed 10" rims with 20" tires. 6. Installed Predator 420cc engine and waiting for delivery of 40 series torque converter kit from gopowersports.com. I feel like I am about 80% there. I am still nervous I may fail, but seeing your success gives me hope. It looks like you may have worked smarter than I have. What back seat did you buy? Here are a few pictures of my cart. |

Re: Melex 212 Before and After
I have the torque converter installed. Still have to bolt down the engine, install the chain, tweak the front steering, and then off to the races.
Here are some pics of my progress. |

Re: Melex 212 Before and After
Drive train updates: I battled through a few changes with adding a # 41 sprocket. Got the brake and gas pedal installed and the chain on. I was feeling pretty awesome until my maiden voyage and the chain slips... reason is slight slack in the chain due to movement in the axle and frame of the cart. That is due to mehaving the engine installed on a frame that is attached to the cart frame and that moves independently from the axle... Potential solution: chain tensioner️*♀️
Here is a break down of my progress. 1. Go power sports torque converter with 10T #41 sprocket. 2. #41 54T driven(axle) sprocket. 3. #41 chain with supplies (cain breaker and chain tensioner) for install. 4. Brewer T22 automatic chain tensioner with a 19 tooth 1inch bore idler sprocket. Installation of tensioner is in progress and I will post my success or failure. By the way, i was able to get my front steering solid by adjusting the tie rods to the pittman arm. Also reattached the brake and gas pedals and the are fully functional. Just have to get this chain right... |

Second thought. Studying photos and for the life of me, can't figure out how you are getting, reverse?
