Default 1984 Columbia Three Wheeler

Does anyone feel that it's easier to keep the original engine and fix crank case seals or better to adapt to another type of engine? I've never done this type of repair, but do well at converting things to get them to work. I'm just not experienced enought with golf carts to know which way to go.
