Rxv charger voltage output
Sorry I've searched everywhere and not sure I'm looking up correctly. Anyway, installed a horn lastnight and put back on charger, cleaning up and hear batteries bubbling. Which I am not sure I've heard so quick and so clear before. Flipped my digital volt meter on while on charger and it was 64.4. I have a 48v system with 4 12v batteries 2013 RXV. I don't recal this charger putting out this many volts. I didn't even leave garage to drain batteries.. It Seems 52-53v on volt meter was about normal with the slow flash green on charger.
The charger was blinking fast green. I am kinda scared to leave it on charger. Is this state of charge on high side or is it perfectly normal? My first cart and still learning 48v system. Cart runs fine and has 49v when not on charger. Basically is 14.5 volts above full charge perfectly normal? Sorry if dumb question just trying to be safe. |

Re: Rxv charger voltage output
Short answer is yes normal. Some will go as high of 66 volts before kicking off.

Re: Rxv charger voltage output
Scares everybody the first time they see voltages this high, worry not as even the Trojan bible says voltage of 64.8 are completely within normal spec while in the Finish/Equalize stage of charge...

Re: Rxv charger voltage output
Technically, a lead-acid battery isn't fully charged until the Specific Gravity of the electrolyte ceases increasing while a charging current is passing through it and voltage tracks SG, so the on-charge battery voltage it can get pretty high with chargers that use dV/dT (change in Voltage over change in Time) technology.
What you are seeing is normal. |
