Default Rear end banging loud with 25 Inch tires on 6 in lift

2009 RXV

Put Jakes 6 Inch lift on and 25 inch tires (25x10-12)

If anyone sits on the rear seat it bangs super loud on every dip in the road. Even without passengers.

1. Would heavy duty rear suspension help with this? or are the tires too big?
2. I want to upgrade to Jakes long travel kit which looks adjusble in the front, but is it still 6 inches lift on the rear? so will the rear bang still?

Is the bang the suspension bottoming out or is it the rear end (differential) clunking, or hubs that are stripped out?

But if it's just you bottoming out yes HD springs will help carry the rear load better. Just like 3000 pounds in a 1/2 ton truck will sagg like crazy but in a 3/4 or 1 ton truck it won't as much, the suspension is designed to carry it.

Jakes long travel kit would still need h/d springs in rear

Soon as i hit a dip in the road (and i mean a tiny rock) with someone sitting on the rear seat it bangs and bottoms out very loud. That is why I have a hard time believing HD springs would help, there doesn't seem to be an inch of space before it bangs. Didndt want to waste money on HD springs and have it still bottom out, maybe i need 23 inch tires? but I was hopping to keep the bigger tires as they look great

I was thinking 25s is too big with just 6" lift. I'm pretty sure that's your problem as crash says. Sell the 25s and buy 23's and count it up to not following directions

i think the stock shocks are bottoming out. has little to do with tire diameter, everything to do with load.

Well that is why I was thinking the long travel kit. However, does the jakes long travel kit only raise it 6 inches in the rear? so I will have the same problem?

the rear is a "block lift", it does not replace the stock springs & shocks. some new hd springs & maybe longer shackles would help. im not totally sure whats included, have never done one on a RXV.

But if the rear block locates the shock up 6"s like mine the shock won't bottom out will it?

Just disconnect the shocks and run it you will easily see if it's bottoming out shocks
