2012 TXT 48V Charging Issue
A month or so ago, I noticed that my Delta-Q charger would never ramp down from 100% and go into a maintainance mode. This would cause the batteries to boil. Once I realized it was doing this, I just made sure to only charge it for a few hours at a time and keep an eye on the water level.
About a week ago, the charger stopped charging completely. It would just blink red once. Today I swapped it for a PowerWise QE and got the same result. I tested the Delta-Q on another cart and it worked fine. I've cleaned the battery terminals, the charging port and made sure all the terminals are clean and tight. I even just bypassed the charging port and hard wired the power and ground from the charger, directly to the batteries. No change. Still a single blinking red light. Each battery read 8.4-8.6V at rest and 7.3-7.6 under load so I think the batteries are ok. Any suggestions here? I'm at a loss. |

Re: 2012 TXT 48V Charging Issue
Not sure it matters but the original Delta-Q is the yellow & black one. I also noticed that the charger I picked up is also a Delta-Q. It's a long, slim, silver one.
Also, after putting everything back together, I plugged the charger into the charging port and now the light on the cart is solid green. Before, it would flash very dimly and randomly. The charger still flashes a single red light. The voltage remains at 49.1V whether the charger is plugged in or not. |

Re: 2012 TXT 48V Charging Issue
I think you have a bad charge port. It has electronics in it too. Not as simple as the "good Ole days" the charger requires input from the cart (charge port sends some data to charger). You said you tested chargers on other carts. Were the battery terminals badly corroded? Corrosion can kill the temp sensor. Small black box with Grey wire is temp sensor, maybe try unhook in it. Here is what's inside.

Is the charge port serviceable? I looked at it briefly when I cleaned the contacts but the plastic looked molded around that circuit board. I'll look again in a few.

Not really serviceable. This one was dunked in paint thinner for a week to dissolve the rubberized cover. I just had to see what's inside .

Cool. I just picked up a new one. Hopefully this does the trick.
