Ezgo txt wires
Friend bought a lifted ezgo txt with no batteries or cables and supposedly has an aftermarket motor. Guy is telling him he needs 1/0 wiring or it will burn it up due to running the bigger tires. Is this true or will the normal 4ga wiring be fine?
I'm not sure since I have a stock 48v club car precedent still |

Re: Ezgo txt wires
Regardless of motor type or tire height, max amps through the high current cables depends on the controller's amp throughput, so cable size is based on controller size.
Attached is Alltrax's recommended minimum cable sizing for various ampacity controllers typically used in electric golf carts. Personally, I would use 2Ga in cart with an aftermarket motor and taller than stock tires with controllers up to and including 500A. The symptom of the cables being too small for the task, is getting warmer than about 10°F above the ambient air temperature. |

Re: Ezgo txt wires
Ok thank you I'll tell him to look at the controller output amps and go from there to determine the wiring needed as well as the other info you provided
