Default Voltage reducer

New to forum and it looks like this question has been beat to death but I didn't see a quick and easy answer.
Installing a light kit on a Precedent 48V system and I ordered a separate voltage reducer. It's a Supernight, hot and ground in, hot and ground out, simple.

Where do I tie in the hot and ground out?
The light kit company says at the tail light harness but not too specific since it's not their reducer.

Thanks in advance.

A voltage reducer gets it's power from the main battery pack + and - . The reducer itself should be switchable (have a 5th wire, on/off switch lead). The reducer will draw power even when not in use.

Upon further reading it looks like it would be much more simple to purchase the Precedent specific reducer that plugs into the existing harness.
Does this solve the switching issue?

Depends if it's a 48-12 volt reducer, it not you don't want it.

I think the switched reducers will say specifically they are switched. You may not find them 100% P n P as the OEM dealio is a 16v>12v reducer which is what MR golf is telling you not to get due to the imbalance that creates within the battery pack.

The Plug and Play reducers are available in both a 48 to 12 design and a 16 to 12 design. The 30 amp 48 to 12 is the way to go. It is switched on and off by the keyswitch of the cart. No additional wiring necessary. Plug it in and be done with it.

Yep. I use 3 or 4 of them a week on my builds. The studs are spaced perfectly to use in the factory mounting location. The only issue I have with them is that they don't come with the two 1/4" nuts you'll need to mount it. lol
