Towing speeds
A recent comment brought to mind the question of max towing speeds for a cart.
I'm currently fabricating a trailer to haul my cart to a weekend getaway on the lake and wanted to know if I should be concerned. Standard top with madjax fold down windshield. Highway speeds 55-65. I could reinforce the top structure but besides folding the windshield down, not much else I can do. Will I have any issues stock? |

Re: Towing speeds
On my Precedent and Carryall, I put a strap over the top to the trailer.
I don't make it really tight, just enough to hold the top and stay in place traveling at 65-70. On the Carryall (DS) I remove the windshield completely...easy to do. On the Precedent, I fold windshield down and put a bungee around the folded windshield and the top struts. |

Re: Towing speeds
Never gave it much thought, I have towed many a cart to play golf , travel highway speed. I just fold windshield down and haul. Most of the time I don't even use any straps.

Re: Towing speeds
I brought mine home as shown in the picture. I travelled nearly 800km (450 miles) at about 110km/hr (70mph) all the way. There were no problems at all (except for the number of bugs that were splattered on it).
The roof wasn't held down with anything other than its normal bolts. The screen was folded and zip tied. The sand buckets were zip tied. I queried the distributor before I left about whether that would be adequate and his reply was "no problems, we do it all the time". |

Re: Towing speeds
You see fleets of them on trailers all the time with nothing on the roof's. I figure it would be ok, but I'd prefer to not take chances on the roof.
Also, just this weekend and last, three people lost their windshields hauling their carts to camp. Two DS's and a Yami. Gone Completely |

Re: Towing speeds
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the windshield might be the only concern. Will see how it goes in the near future.

Re: Towing speeds
Strap the cart down. Drive a reasonable speed. Never had a problem. Suppose it would not hurt to put one strap around the windshield to be sure.
