Default I need Help....new build, won't run

My worst nightmare has happened, whet to fire it up for the first time and nothing.

ALLTRAX XCT500DCS, 400 amp Super Duty Solenoid, controller fan, and 2 Ga. cable set and Battery Meter w/ mounting plate. my battery meter doesn't light up either. put it in RUN, Turned the key on....FIRST I GOT 4 GREEN FLASHES.....EZGO ITS throttle then got 1 GREEN, 6 RED....Pre-charge Failure.

What do I do??
seeing as how I have a DCS, there is no pre-charge resister.....there is however on the big posts a diode. and is to be installed with the stripe on the battery side. as is in the picture.

Don't the XCT units still need the precharge resistor?
It may have been moved into the XCT controller but I don't know.
I am a newbie on that.

Nuke, am I looking at this wrong or is that diode backward?

it states in the instructions, that the diode goes the black side to the controller and the stripe to the battery.....I installed it TOWARDS the battery...as you can see in the picture.

HOWEVER......THEIR INSTRUCTIONS SUX......cause I just took a shot just now and flipped it over and all is well.....I got all green lights.

I searched and found that XCT controllers do not need the precharge resistor.
Also in the link below Scottyb discusses that newer XCT units do not need the coil diode.
That stumped me as I did not see it in your pic.

Regen Diode:
In your pic it looks installed correctly.
Not sure why it had to be reversed to work.
If it was installed backwards, the controller would think the solenoid is welded shut and would not go I believe.

Glad you got it working!

Raystar....what you see is a diode.....but in fact it is a REGEN DIODE.....Scotty sent me one with my controller and some instructions for the install....the "flash codes" for the controller don't call it what is really is. the code shows Pre-charge failure, when in fact there is no pre-charge resister on the solenoid, but is built into the controller. Anyway.....its up and running.

Sir Nuke,
Maybe I am looking at it wrong, but shouldn't those two red wires that are attached to the right side post of your solenoid be attached to the left hand side? I have mine on the other side and it works with the diode oriented the same way you have it.

I just rechecked the schematic and it has the two red wires going to the same post as the battery positive.

I can't explain why it works when you switched the diode.

Just an observation....but remember I am only a newbie.

rking.....this could be right.....but what I did prior to disconnecting a single wire at the beginning of this build, was to take a bunch of pictures, PLUS I kept the controller/solenoid and everything that was connected to it intact until I actually started that so it was just a matter of moving things from to the other. That and the cart was a working cart to begin with....so it was a good assumption it was wired correctly. and after thinking about it....the solenoid isn't polarized (the large posts, + on both sides) but the small ones are. Just something that its the first time I have run into this on my own...and will remember it for the future, for myself.....and for anyone else that might run across this situation that I may be trying to help.

Either way.....its up and running.

Neither the large nor the small posts on the solenoid are polarized. Just the diode.
