HD springs or not?
I am going to lift my buggy 4" and mount 23" tires...down the road I want to put a back seat on it...I haul kids everywhere on this thing...do I need a HD leaf springs on the rear or is it not necessary??

Re: HD springs or not?
It's not necessary... However, the factory springs will sag, and the rear end will be lower than the front end. Every factory cart that has a rear seat also has HD springs in the rear.
They are cheap enough and easy enough to install might as well go ahead and do it now. |

Re: HD springs or not?
If you are gonna put big tires on it, do the HD springs. You are raising the center of gravity & it will feel like it's gonna roll over around every turn.

Re: HD springs or not?
tlfinn.....you have already decided to do it.....but I just wanted to put my .02 in anyway.....I just finished my build, it has the rear seat, 6" lift and I installed the HD 3 Leaf springs and I loaded up 4 people in the cart this afternoon and the 2 in the back are FULL GROWN adults.....and the rear end barely squatted down under the load.....so putting the HD Springs is a good choice.

Re: HD springs or not?
I have mine lifted and it seems OK as I am not an off road racer but then again I haven't tried one with HD springs.
Is the ride a lot rougher? I will sacrifice a little body roll for a softer ride but maybe the HDs ride well too. |

I have read reports that said 4 leaf leaf springs are pretty rough. I've also read one report that said they bent a set of 4 leaf leafs. |
