Default Re: Ac motor!! 3phase!!! Help

Bob, I finally got to check the ohms on the temp sensor. As I expected, open circuit. If I take the plate with the 3 bolts off can I get to the temp sensor? A little apprehensive to wander off into the unknown.

Unfortunately not. It is imbedded into one of the windings and the only way to get at it is to remove the factory varnish from the winding that it is imbedded in. That is beyond the ability of anyone without experience in electric motor rewinding. The typical procedure is to replace the motor itself. However, you can trick the controller into working by replacing the temperature sensor (a thermistor) with a resistor. The danger in doing this is the controller will not be reading the actual internal temperature of your motor. You will now need to decide which path you would like to take.

I call that a "back against the wall decision" !! Guess I will check on the cost of a new motor and then decide. One way or the other it seems a motor is in the future. Bob, you have been a great help, really appreciate it.
