Torque Gain After Controller Upgrade
What kind of gains would I be getting if I upgraded to 350 amp Curtis controller rather than 250 amp one I am running right now?
current setup: 2004 EZGO TXT Series 4 gauge cables, HD F/R switch stock motor stock controller (Curtis P/N: 25864G09) 10s2p - 42v MAX - Lithium Ion Battery Pack (Nissan Leaf) 18" tall tires |

Re: Torque Gain After Controller Upgrade
Top speed on level ground will stay the same.
There will be an increase in torque at low RPM, but how much depends on how many amps the stock motor is capable of drawing at lower RPM. Torque is directly proportional to armature amps and armature amps are inversely proportional to RPM, so the torque gain only exists at an RPM below the max RPM at which the motor is capable of drawing the maximum throughput of the stock (250A) controller. Sounds like you have increased the pack voltage to 42V, so the controller and solenoid have to be upgraded to components that are designed to operate at that voltage or higher. |

Re: Torque Gain After Controller Upgrade
Okay. Here it goes...
Apologies in advance if I go on tangents in the middle Nissan Leaf cells are technically 2 cells each in parallel already. Each cell then reads out around 7.8v nominal. 7.8x5cells is ~39 volts and perfect for my 36v series cart. For added range I took 2 sets of 5 and ran them in parallel. This is how I got to 10s2p. 10 series 2 parallel. I got lucky and found a guy locally in Phoenix that put it all together for me ready to go. Just out with the old and in with the new right? Wrong, my EZGO has a false floor, the batteries just sit on the edges of angle iron and once removed there was no floor. I had a friend of mine weld a new floor in. Removing the center angle iron so it was all flat! Then I covered all that with Bedliner for longevity. Now I can put the new pack in... works great! But I have no lights! You cannot just hook the 12v stuff up to 2 batteries anymore; one because it is a bad for batteries in general and 2 because the voltage doesn’t match now on the cells. Hooked up a voltage reducer and boom. Ready to go! With the new 12v system came a complete cart require for me since the previous owners had mangled the hell out of it but I hope yours is better! Hit me up with questions as this is all fresh in my mind Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Torque Gain After Controller Upgrade
Where did you get the plug to mount in place of the charge port?
I have a partial Chevy Volt pack I am going to use on my cart. That male-plug in place of the charge port would work nicely on my cart. |

I’m sure the guy can package up more packs but I’m not sure on shipping.

Re: Torque Gain After Controller Upgrade
Charging port was basic off amazon. I had to rivet in a new cover panel over the old hole and then drilled for the new smaller one and a cut off switch to prevent possible parasitic power drain
