Default Not sure what this is

I am starting conversion from 36 to 48 volts. I have new motor installed and old batteries out of cart with new ones ready to go in. I have a new 48 to 12 volt reducer. I am GUESSING this is a voltage reducer. Not sure though.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Gary

I'm new to golf carts so I'm guess as well but... It does looks like a voltage reducer. Does it identify the wires on the side? The yellow/black red/black combo seems to be common with reducers. You could put volt meter on the yellow/black and see if you get 12v.

All batteries are out of cart right now. I did trace two wires back to where they were connected to batteries bringing 36 volts into that little box.
