Default 93 Marathon rear lugs

So I had to take the rear wheel off my Marathon to reseat the tire. That was a chore in and of it self. Went to put the wheel back on and now all the lugs are loose and floppy inside the drum. So I am assuming that I should be able to take off the bearing, remove the drum and the replace the lugs? I assume the are not supposed to spin and move around? Anything that I need to do special or additional info I need before I tackle this project? Thanks in advance.

Troy

I think you can just replace the hub and it will have the 4 studs pressed into it.
If the drum feels stuck back the brake shoes off using a flat screwdriver ( or brake adjustment tool). Access is through the hole in the drum when it is at the 6 o'clock position.

If you replace one hub, replace them both.

It appears they sell the studs separately. They can be pressed in, but on a car I had a long time ago, I simply "sucked" them in by putting on the wheel and tightening the lug nut. May want to check the manual, available in the Stickies. Any service manual with drum brakes will work.

Awesome. I will see how it looks when I get the drums off. Definitely doing both sides while I’m doing it.

Got the drum off without much problem. Everything inside looks good I think. Anybody see anything that needs attention?

Probably going to replace both drums because there are splines on the lugs but the drum holes are smooth so don’t think new lugs would do any good.

The service manual tells you how to tell if the shoes are too worn out. I adjusted mine according to the manual. My auto-adjusters (stars) didn't seem to work reliably, so I replaced them with some used ones I bought here, from a member who just bought disk brakes.

Thanks yurtle. I’ll see what I can find in the service manual.
