Default Brake light wiring diagram

I have a 1992 EZGO Marathon. I want to add brake lights. The cart already is equipped with tail lights for running lights and brake lights. The brake pedal also already has a micro switch on it.
I only want to add brake lights and not turn signals. All the wiring diagrams I find on the forum, have the wiring diagram going through the turn signal switch. Can somebody give me a simple wiring diagram for only wiring the brake lights?

Question Re: Brake light wiring diagram

I'm in the same situation with the same cart. Maybe no one has a diagram. So I'll ask, "Can this be done? If so, how?"

None of those came "factory" with lights of any kind, so what you have now depends on what kind of kit (or homemade arrangement) someone else had put on. Some, but not all, kits had a wire harness that included a wire run to support the addition of brake lights. They were usually intended to go through a turn signal switch, so you would have to modify things a bit. Do you have 3 wires going into each of the tail lights? If so, one (usually white or black) would be the ground, one (usually, but not always red) is the + for tail lights, and the last (usually different color side to side) would be the brake/turn element of the light. You can verify what each wire does with a voltmeter or test light. Combine the two for brake/turn into the brake pedal switch. Provide a 12 volt+ to the other side of the switch and that should give you brake lights.

Thanks for your explanation. My brake has a switch but the wire was cut and is just dangling close to the harness. It's been awhile since I looked but I think there are three wires coming from the rear taillight - one of them is brown. The owner of the electric shop said he would ask one of his techs if there was a way to bypass the turn signal.

Not sure what lights you have on the rear but a typical utility trailer light has a ground and brown wire for running lights. Green on the passenger side for brake/turn and yellow on the drivers side for brake/turn. In this case tie the green and yellow from the two sides together and run that wire to the switch on the pedal. Feed the other side of that switch with 12 volts and you should be good.

Red and purple are the coil wires for the brake lights relay. 24 volt coil. Connections 85 and 86. Should have 12 volts coming in on one contact and the other should go to the brake lights. Connections 87 and 30.

The brake relay under the cup holder? Primary solenoid will be either 36 or 48 but brake should be 24. Part 604110
